Now, I would like to discuss the Ichinoseki line which is the main current of the pedigree of the Akita dogs of today. The name Ichinoseki refers to those dogs that were raised by a wealthy family by that name from Niida Village on the suburbs of Odate City. The ancestor of these dogs was Tochini-go, who was raised by Mr. Shigeie (Mokke) lzumi, the first chairman of Akiho. Tochini-go's pedigree is discussed in detail in the Akiho Bulletin No. 41. The sire was a white Akita fighting dog called Midane-go, (Sanshu-go). The dam was Norogomame-go, with a red goma coat. Some information on the sire's breeder and the grandfather's name are available but the birth date is not known. The dam belonged to Mr. Noroda of Akita, but the pedigree is unknown. Tochini-go, was born in the kennel of Matsunosuke Noroda who was a relative of the previously mentioned Mr. Noroda. Tochini-go, was turned over to Mr. Yozaburo Toshi of the same village and later went to the home o Mr. lzumi. Tochini-go's popular name was "Aku" and he was used as a fighting dog. His photograph reveals one floppy ear and a short coiled tail. However, one was impressed with his features as being desirable in a Japanese dog.

The uncertainty of information on the pedigree of Tochini-go, is probably due to the absence of written documents, and one had to go mainly by the recollection of the breeders and knowledgeable people. Therefore, I believe that new information on the bloodline of the Akita dog beyond this period is difficult to trace. Tochini-go, is from the period prior to 1931 (6th year of Showa) before the declaration of the natural monument, and there are no written records of the pedigree available. Even if the pedigree and birth dates were available, the dogs themselves were probably of mixed breeds of the Taisho era, regional dogs, or the Matagi dog.  Line: Ichinoseki - Tochini-go is the progenitor of the Ichinoseki line.  Breeder: Kennel of Matsunosuke Noroda.  Gets: Kin-go (m), Matsukaze-go (f) were Natural Monuments.  Raised By: Mr. Yozaburo Toshi.
